Taylor Swift: Fearless

Taylor Swift is country's newest legend. She's had sold out shows around the country, and her first album, which is self-titled, has sold over three million copies. Her second album, titled Fearless, just came out on November 11th, and is better than the first.

With Taylor writing or co-writing every song on her first album, it's expected that she would do the same for her second. But this time she's even topping that. Not only did she write a total of 8 of the 13 songs on this new record by herself (co-writing the rest), she also co-produced her album.

Some of her songs have made news even before the album's release. Her first single off the new album, "Love Story", currently holds the number one position on the Billboard charts for country singles. Also, this past summer her song "Change" was featured at the Olympics. As if this weren't enough, Grey's Anatomy used her song "White Horse" in their premiere episode. And that's all before the album came out. Just think what can happen in the future.

I know I'm one of those people who hate buying albums. If I don't like one song on the album it seems like a waste. If the lyrics are bad or the melody painful to listen to it ruins it. Usually there's at least one song that I have to skip on any album. But when I finally decided to buy Taylor Swift's new album, I surprised myself in successfully being able to get through the whole thing.

Another great thing about the songs on her new album is how personal they get, and how relatable they can be. "Fearless", the track inspiring the album's name, is about not being afraid to take the first steps, or the first date, in a relationship. Another track easy to relate to is "Fifteen", which Taylor writes about her freshman year of high school. "You Belong with Me" is one of my favorites, which is about how a guy should be with me instead of his cheerleader girlfriend. Another one of my favorite tracks on the new album is "Breath", which she wrote with Colbie Ciallat. Colbie also lends her voice for backup on the track. One of the more personal songs Taylor wrote for the album is "The Best Day" which she wrote for her mom. The songs are all different, but they each offer their own pleasure for the ears.

Taylor Swift's album offers a variety of different music. There are hints of pop and rock throughout the album, as well as country. If you liked her first album, the second one is even better. If you like songs about love, friendship, and heartache, you're going to want to check out Fearless.
