FUN STUFF: POETRY

As Time Goes By

By Tess, age 15, Florida

Blue as the sky it sat on my wrist,
Perfect as can be,
Ticking at time,
With my heart you held the key.
It sat in the water,
The time began to fade,
Still as beautiful as the eyes could see,
Our love newly made.
Pieces begin to peel,
And fall from the band,
Your smile was my strength,
As you gently held my hand.
Ripping and tearing,
The time nearly gone,
You held me in your arms,
Our love carried on.
As the watch fell apart,
Held together with a safety pin,
I cried myself to sleep,
Overcome by sin.
It fell to the ground,
As shattered as its soul,
Where is that man,
Who could once make me whole?
There once was a love,
"As perfect as can be,"
The clock has timed out,
As far as I can see.
