Jigoku: Last Chance!
By Laura, age 14, California
Prologue
The full moon appeared in the black blanket of night as the small stars began to appear in the luminance against the city lights. The rustling and bustling of Cenbarr City had its people awake and moving, but no one knew that in the midst of the shadows a creature lurked about.
"Jigoku!" a male's voice echoed from the communicator placed on the girl's wrist. "Bring the girl to me by tonight. You've messed up enough already! This is your last chance!" Then the communicator went silent.
Jigoku stood behind a sign on top of the video game store, one of the biggest buildings in town, in the middle of the shopping district. Her shadow snuck behind her as she slowly strode to the building's edge. She rolled her eyes as she looked out onto the town.
"Shut up ... I'll get her. I'll get the little brat tonight!" She jumped down into one of the alleys of the town, her white mask covering her face, and her short spiky black and red hair moving slightly in the breeze. "Hmph ... can't stand their human ways." As she walked out of the alley she removed her mask and transformed her appearance into that of a regular sixteen year old. "Come here, brat ... come here," she muttered under her breath, as she moved faster and faster past the crowds of people.
Editor's Note: Jigoku means 'hell' in Japanese. Laura's story continues in next month's issue.
