Just In! Summer Jewelry & Jackets!

By Jasmin, age 14, Indiana

That's right, this time around we're going to find some jewelry and jacket trends happening for the summer! What's considered in this season and what's totally out! Well, let's get the scoop!

Yeah, I know it sounds scary ... jackets for the hot summer?? But don't worry, I've got you covered. Nothing heavier than a cardigan will even need to be mentioned. I mean, as you know, summer is definitely not the time when you want to be breaking out anything heavier than a raincoat! So, we're just going to explore some items you may find rather useful on those chilly summer nights when you're at the movies with your guy or BFF!

Who doesn't love cute, cropped jackets? They can be fun, sporty, or even girly! They go with anything, including that pair of adorable dark-wash denims you've been dying to wear, but have nothing to wear them with. You can pair one of these jackets with just a tank or cami underneath for those hot summer days, or you can wear it over an awesome graphic tee on those chillier summer evenings. You can even wear it over your swimsuit at the beach, just for fun!

Another easy way to stay cozy when there's a breeze is to have a light, summery cardigan on hand. They will always come in handy, plus they can be a way to brighten up your outfit - or tone it down. A bright neon printed cardigan or a toned-down soft tan will work fine, depending on what you're wearing. A rule of thumb for the summer is to always make sure you have some sort of shawl or cardigan to protect you from those unexpected cold chills and breezes!

You definitely have to accessorize over the summer. You have to make your beachy outfit really pop. And you can do that all with one word: jewelry. It doesn't have to be fancy or expensive or flashy; it just needs to be simple, chic, modern. As a matter of fact, the simpler the better, because we're going all natural, or should I say au naturale? Natural, as in woody, earthy, organically-inspired. Jewelry that accents your subtle, yet beautiful, smoky eyes ... or maybe you bought some new gladiator sandals. We're aiming for jewelry that'll help you stand out, but in a natural kind of way.

In conclusion, after yet another report on what's "summer hot" and what's "winter cold", always keep these tips and tricks in the back of your mind - one day you'll need them! And that day may be approaching as fast as this summery season is! :)
