Don't Listen to Gossip!
By Dao, age 14, Pennsylvania
A friend of mine is being gossiped about around our school. Horrible and gross things are being said about her. People are wondering if it's true or not.
And now everyone is turning their back on her because of the gossip being spread. Now for me, being one of her friends, I had to make a choice - ignore the gossip or turn against my friend like everyone else.
If you're in the same situation as me, stop and think ...
What if the gossip is true?
What if it's not?
But the real question is ...
What does it have to do with you?
Why are people so worried about others these days but not themselves? Why turn against someone just because of stupid gossip that can be fake. But even if it's true, does it affect you at all? No.
So why be a follower when you can be the one who despises stupid gossip, and be a leader who doesn't care about what others say. If you're still not convinced, then try to think of yourself being in the same situation as that person. How would you feel not having anyone talking to you because they all believe the gossip being spread about you?
75% of teens deal with depression because of untrue gossip being spread about them.
You?
Yes, you ...
Can ignore the gossip!
