Swimsuits Galore!

By Jasmin, age 14, Indiana

Now it's time for what you've all been waiting for this summer - SWIMSUITS! We finally get to explore what kinds of bathing suits are burnin' up and which ones deserve a cold shoulder!

Let's start with the crowd favorite, bikinis, bikinis, and more bikinis! The styles go all the way from plain and simple color blocks to crazy fun ruffle ones! But the most all-around, well-liked bikini style would be the string bikini. Sure, everyone likes the halter and whatnot, but the less fabric, the less tan lines.

Now I'm definitely not saying to go out and buy the skankiest boob-tube bikini you can find, but string bikinis are perfectly acceptable. What's 'in' right now: lots of sweet cute patterns, like hearts, stars, sailor stripes, and lots of bright electric colors. Nothing says 'summer is here' better than a neon pink polka-dot string bikini! Plus, you can get them cheap at Wal-Mart, with their new celebrity-endorsed beach line Op! They're super cute and super inexpensive!

Popular favorites also include monokinis and cut-outs. Girls are absolutely loving this cool new trend, and more and more stores are selling them. They work great if you want a one-piece, but not a boring ole' grandma cover-up. They're stylish and come in every color, size, shape, and pattern imaginable. Metallic, plaid, animal print, or even a plain color will work for a monokini! Throw on one of these and you'll be instantly swimming (or just tanning) at the beach in style!

Well, we can't forget the awesome bandeau bikini! Although some girls don't like the bandeau trend because they don't like strapless, still a lot of people stay true to it. We're talking easy, comfortable, and zero strap tan-lines. Hey, work with what you've got, even if it's a small bust that you're worried about. It's always fun to try something new. Plus, there's some really fun, flirty patterns and colors out there. Hip right now are green, purple, pink simple patterns like plaid or paisley.

Now that we're done exploring the world of trendy swimsuits for summer '09, it's time for you to go out and enjoy yours! Hope it's amazing, and packed full of boys, beaches, and lots of FUN!
