Black and Blue

By Akilia, age 13, Oklahoma

Black and blue, the colors of pain. Black, the color of your heart when we fell apart, never to return to the life we're used to. Blue, the color of your eyes that had always made my heart skip a beat.

Black and blue, the colors that will always remind me of you. The colors that are ours till death do us part was the thong that tore us apart, never to speak of love again, the words spill like the tears of a crying child.

All the while the blue sky rolls by with the smog and fog of our unpleasant end. The time that we spent here is black as coal and light as a feather. A child is born never to understand her purpose to the world as there is really no one there to love her and treat her as she really is.

A beautiful, courageous, intelligent, amazing, blue eyed baby girl. Because of the black no one will ever notice her for all of these amazing things. The only beings that know all of this and will not admit it are her parents - so stuck on all the black, never to notice the blue.
