Harajuku Style - For You!
By Alexandra, age 22, Utah
I was watching a TV show from Japan the other day and some images from Tokyo caught my attention. Many of us would say that Japanese fashion is extravagant or crazy, but in my opinion those are not the right words to describe it. I have to recognize that I'm not a fan of Japan in general, but when it comes to fashion they are one of my favorites. I LOVE their nonconformism! They are so unique, and the way they dress screams PERSONALITY! When I think about Japanese fashion, one name comes to my mind, and that is one of my favorite designers, Betsey Johnson, known for her exuberant designs. It got me to thinking, how wonderful it would be if we could criticize other people less, and the way they dress, and focus more on our own style.

Harajuku is one of the most well known Japanese styles, but there are more, and I bet some of you have heard of these styles before: Lolita (classic, goth, sweet, etc.), Gyaru, Punk, Visual Kei, and so on.
