The Sad Wedding

By Sam, age 18, Massachusetts
Sweet Designs Staff Intern

The silence smothering the air makes it too hard to speak
The crowd's solemn faces make it too hard to weep
They all know there shouldn't be a wedding, but still the orchestra plays on

For the groom dressed to kill, this is only business
For the maiden forced to wear the white gown, there is no choice but this
They both know there shouldn't be a wedding, but still the orchestra plays on

Vows are shared, rings exchanged, and the deal is sealed with the kiss in place
The Puppet Master embraces the new couple with warm, open arms and smiling face
Feeling their breaking hearts beat alongside his, he motions the orchestra to play on
